Otsego Now to Receive Multiple Creative Awards

May 9, 2016 (Oneonta, NY) – The New York State Economic Development Council (NYSEDC) recently announced that Otsego Now has been named a recipient of several 2016 Marketing, Literature and Promotion Awards. The awards will be presented at the Awards Banquet on Thursday evening, May 26th, during the 2016 NYSEDC Annual Meeting in Cooperstown. Otsego Now Embarks on Training Center Year Two

In the months since our launch event last year, the Otsego Now Regional Workforce Training Center has been in a state of metamorphosis and evolution. Our second-year plan has called for a significant amount of business outreach, as well as meetings with prospective education partners, to forge the relationships we need to move forward. Training programs at the Workforce Training Center will be demand-driven, so business outreach has been critical. Workforce Board Hosts Conversation between Local Businesses and Workforce Trainers

On February 26, 2016, the Chenango-Delaware-Otsego Workforce Development Board gathered a room full of leaders from local manufacturers before a panel of people charged in one way or another with workforce development and/or employee training. Specifically, panel members were Joseph Yelich, superintendent of the Oneonta City School District; Glenda Roberts, Director of Career and Business Development for SUNY Delhi; Audrey Beckenstein from the Norwich campus of the Delaware-Chenango-Madison-Otsego BOCES; and Dawn Rivers, Director of the Otsego Now Regional Workforce Training Center. Otsego Now Board Gets New Leadership

March 7, 2016 (ONEONTA, NY) – At the annual meeting of the Boards of the County of Otsego IDA and the Otsego County Capital Resource Corporation, held last week in Oneonta, the election of officers yielded a new joint Chairman. By unanimous roll call vote, Devin Morgan was elected to the top spot on both Boards. Previous Chairs, Hanft and Bernier did not seek re-election to encourage fresh leadership to jointly lead both organizations. Oneonta Food Hub Vision Takes Shape

Two years ago, the staff at Otsego Now began working with the late Mayor Dick Miller on the idea of an agricultural center in downtown Oneonta that would be a central feature of a revitalized Market Street. Late last year, Otsego Now issued a Request for Proposals for professional services to prepare a feasibility study and economic development strategy for the prospective food hub – the first step toward making that shared vision into reality.
