The Quaint Comforts of Cooperstown

Patti Desposito | Owner, Rose & Thistle Bed & Breakfast

Cooperstown is known for its small town charm, welcoming visitors throughout the year to enjoy beautiful landscapes and slower pace. For Patti Desposito, owner of the Rose & Thistle Bed & Breakfast, this serenity was just the thing she needed. Patti pursued her interest in owning a bed and breakfast in Otsego County, moving upstate after the events of September 11, 2001.

After moving into this tight knit community, Patti looked for opportunities to give back and get to know people by volunteering for local events. As a resident of many years, she loves the beauty and culture of Cooperstown, counting Glimmerglass Festival, Fenimore Art Museum, and paddling on the Susquehanna River as some of her favorite things to do.

Preparing for her guests makes for long days for Patti at the Rose & Thistle, but her hard work doesn’t go unnoticed by visitors. Her typical day begins at 6:30AM, as she cooks breakfast for guests, checks them in and out, does housekeeping duties, grocery shopping, and laundry. Her long day usually ends around 11PM. In Cooperstown, the Rose & Thistle acts as the perfect home base for visitors looking to explore everything Cooperstown has to offer.

While summer in Cooperstown is a big draw for visitors, Patti’s favorite season is fall. Like many people, she enjoys the colorful foliage and crisp clean air that make Central New York a special place to be in autumn. With art, culture, and a spectacular landscape to explore, it’s clear why Patti and so many others are drawn to Otsego County and the quaint comforts of Cooperstown.
