Otsego Now Embarks on Training Center Year Two

In the months since our launch event last year, the Otsego Now Regional Workforce Training Center has been in a state of metamorphosis and evolution. Our second-year plan has called for a significant amount of business outreach, as well as meetings with prospective education partners, to forge the relationships we need to move forward. Training programs at the Workforce Training Center will be demand-driven, so business outreach has been critical. ONEONTA – Rapid-fire, “food-hub superstar” Karen Karp this morning presented a full menu of new ideas for the “Food & Beverage Innovation District” planned along Oneonta’s Market Street: Renovate the downtown parking deck to include shops and maybe even apartments. Collaborate with SUNY Oneonta’s Sodexo catering service on a restaurant and food-service management training center in a “food hub” in the former Ford dealership at Chestnut and Market streets. A Milestone in the Marathon

On Monday, November 16th, the Oneonta Town Planning Board approved the proposed site plan for the Oneonta Business Park, clearing the way for future business expansion. The Planning Board approved a plan for mixed use development that translates into up to 400,000 square feet of building space, 170 parking spaces, and an opportunity to attract businesses that will create new, high-quality jobs. Otsego Now Opens Workforce Training Center

by Denise Richardson, staff writer ONEONTA — State Sen. James Seward, R-Milford, and Otsego Now officials launched the Otsego Now Regional Workforce Training Center at 189 Main St. on Tuesday. Seward announced the award of a $100,000 legislative grant to support the Center, an award that supplements a $47,500 grant from Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative.
