Cooperstown Distillery Awarded State Grants for Planned Expansion

Otsego Now has been working with the Cooperstown Distillery to assist with their financing needs for a planned expansion. In the summer of 2019, an $85,000 grant from NYS Empire State Development was awarded to the company for its expansion. Another application, also prepared by Otsego Now, was awarded to the Village of Cooperstown for another $100,000 in CDBG grant funding through the NYS Housing Trust Fund Corporation.

The Cooperstown Distillery started in October 2013 and has found that demand for its products has increased dramatically. In the past five years, the Distillery has won 50 awards for its products and the company now operates a tasting room and retail store, as well as a designated NYS Farm distillery.

The company is now planning to expand by building a larger storage and warehouse facility and free up existing warehousing for additional production. This will include hiring additional staff to manage the new product inventory.  The project also involves the building of a 7,520 square foot two-story addition to the company’s existing manufacturing facility in Cooperstown, NY.
